I have been an absolutely terribly blogger recently, and I truly apologize. I recently finished graduate school and just moved back home to do the job search thing. It has been a busy past few months finishing up school, moving and starting the job search. My mother and I actually both came down with salmonella poisoning as we began our journey home, which slowed us down for about a week. Not so much fun, but we survived.
It’s been intense, stressful and fun all at the same time, and I am very excited to take the next step and see where life leads me. So that is what is going on in my personal life.
As for my RA, I recently met with my doctor here at home and was evaluated as doing pretty well. I had a little bit of swelling it my left foot and both hands but my joint count was fairly low, so I am not too worried. I am guessing the swelling had more to do with me skipping my meds when I had salmonella. (I was put on antibiotics and didn’t want the immunosuppressant drugs to be working against the antibiotics or to help the salmonella get a heads up. I have been told to stop taking the shorter term daily drugs when you have an infection, such as Imuran. But talk to your own doctor before going off any medications.)
I also had to talk to my doctor about finding a new hand surgeon since the surgeon I had originally seen is back where I was in grad school. My rheumatologist knew of a guy people in his practice had worked with before, so hopefully I can get that done soon. I would really like to have the surgery before I start a job so I don’t have to take time off, but I haven’t heard back yet about it. I’ll keep you all in the loop!
Until next time,
S.P.
